Policy Platform

What has been accomplished over the past 4 years:

  • Appropriated ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) dollars to pay for stormwater improvements and widen sidewalks along W 3rd Ave in First Filing.

  • Infilled sidewalks along 120th Ave in stretches where sidewalks didn't exist, such as in front of the 3 Margaritas.

  • Approved more than $3 million towards widening Uptown Ave/112th Ave. in Arista to a 4 lane road with nearly entirely protected bike lanes and enhanced sidewalks.

  • Increased spending on our chip and seal budget to maintain our roads.

  • Increased our Bond rating (government version of a credit score) by stabilizing the General Fund through revenue diversification and not taking on new debt.

  • Working on stabilizing the Enterprise fund (Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater). Transitioned to a tiered water rate structure to incentivize water consumption reductions.

  • Amended the municipal code to reduce the use of water thirsty plants with new developments and redevelopments due to due current and future drought conditions straining water sources.

Going Forward:

  • Increasing Transportation Options:

    • Public Transit, walking, and biking.

      • If we are to make our climate goals we need to provide alternative transportation options to driving that are convenient and safe for all people. To do this, I will work on:

        • Establishing a local public transit agency that operates services at a minimum frequency of 15 minutes for most of the day, and compliments existing RTD's local, regional, and airport services.

        • Continue to work to ensure that all sidewalks are ADA compliant and that where sidewalks don't exist we build them.

        • Increase our protected bike lanes miles.

  • Ensure our existing roads are maintained and rightsized for a people oriented community.

  • Infrastructure Investment:

    • Continue reinvesting in our water and waste water infrastructure to ensure safe and clean drinking water

    • Continue with the elevated investments in road maintenance

  • Increase Housing Affordability:

    • Over the past 3.5 years I've been on City Council, I've approved many new apartments, townhomes, and dense single family homes. Most of these had affordable units built with the project, but we still have more work to do. We need to have more for sale unites built that are denser. To do this, I will work towards:

      • Prioritizing for-sale townhomes and condos

      • Redevelop the empty parking lots within the Interlocken neighborhood

      • Work with our State House Representative and State Senator to amend state law to make building condos easier

      • Reduce and eliminate unnecessary building regulations

  • Move Towards A Sustainable Future:

    • Continue the City and County of Broomfield's fleet transition to all electric vehicles.

    • Add composting options to our trash and recycling program.

    • Expand the City and County's use of renewable energy by building more solar.

    • Amend the City and County municipal code to allow residential wind turbines.
